Born on September 2, 1914 on East 116th Street in East Harlem, Michael Peter Pascale, known in his community as Pete, never moved more than a few blocks from this location.
Mr. Pascale devoted his entire working life of sixty-five years to the LaGuardia Memorial House on East 116th Street in Manhattan. He served for forty-five years as Executive Director until his retirement in 1988. Mr. Pascale also served as Chairman of Community Board 11 and as an officer or member of virtually every civic and social service committee in East Harlem. Through his affiliation with the Fresh Air Fund, he sent more than fifty thousand children to the country for Fresh Air Fund vacations.
Michael Peter Pascale passed away on June 14, 1997. In view of the contributions he made to the East Harlem community, it is fitting that 116th Street between First and Second Avenues be named "Pete Pascale Place."
For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
