Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today welcomed Santa Claus to New York City and joined him in delivering gifts and toys to over 5,000 children with disabilities as part of the Community Mayors annual Operation Santa Claus at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens.
"The Holiday Season always brings out the best in New Yorkers," said Mayor Giuliani. "It is a time to give and to share with friends, family and those less fortunate. In the spirit of the Holidays, Operation Santa Claus continues to bring joy to children with disabilities from the Greater New York area every year. I thank the Community Mayors for making it possible and urge all New Yorkers to join this wonderful event and help us bring warmth and happiness to so many children."
The Community Mayors Children's Fund is a non-political, not-for-profit national organization made up of community and business leaders who provide recreational therapy for children with disabilities. Each year, the Community Mayors sponsor a series of events benefiting more than 80,000 children nationwide.
