MAYOR GIULIANI ANNOUNCES THAT NEW YORK WILL BE THE SITE OF THE 1ST NATIONAL LIVING BETTER EXPO
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today announced that New York City will be the site of the 1st National Living Better Expo, a two day gathering for those who seek to improve the quality of their life and health. The Expo, produced by the RDP Group under the direction of by Steve Levenberg, will take place at the Javits Center on July 10 and 11.
"New York City is proud to be hosting the first Living Better Expo," the Mayor said. "This is a great opportunity to link caregivers and health professionals and their services and products, with those New Yorkers who need them the most. The Expo will help our communities to be active, healthy, involved, and informed as they grow older."
According to Mr. Levenberg, the Living Better Expo will give New Yorkers access to educational seminars, panel discussions, new treatments and products that could help them to live a longer and better life. The educational programs are geared towards people who might be coping with handicaps, and who are facing the demands of every day life. Emphasis will be placed on issues of aging and its effects on the body will also be explored at the Expo, which is free to the public.
Also joining the Mayor were Herbert Stupp, Commissioner of the Department of the Aging, which is one of the sponsors; Dr. Neal Cohen, Commissioner of Health; Alex Matich of the National Health Agencies of New York, another sponsor, and Denyse Norris and Steve Wesler of the RDP Group.
"I am particularly pleased to be here acknowledging the importance of a health event that focuses on physical and mental well-being. In July, an impressive group of health and disability service providers will come together to share their valuable expertise," said Commissioner of Cohen.
Commissioner Stupp said, "Since more people are living longer, the challenge confronting us is to maintain quality of life throughout those extended years. The importance of the Living Better Expo is that it gives people with disabilities the opportunity to educate themselves so they can continue to live full and productive lives."
