MAYOR GIULIANI ATTENDS HEALTH CARE FAIR FOR SENIOR CITIZENS AT LENOX HILL NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today joined hundreds of senior citizens who participated in the Annual Health Fair sponsored by State Assemblyman John Ravitz at the Lenox Hill Neighborhood House in Manhattan. At the Fair, staff members from Beth Israel, Lenox Hill, New York/Cornell, Mount Sinai, and many other leading health care providers in the City offered seniors free information, referrals, flu shots, and screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, breast cancer, arthritis, allergies, vision problems, and other health-related services. Also in attendance was Herb Stupp, Comissioner of the New York City Department for the Aging.

"The contributions of our senior citizens are invaluable to New York City," said Mayor Giuliani. "Their wisdom and experience are evident in every area that makes this City the Capital of the World. That's why keeping elderly New Yorkers healthy through information, prevention and treatment programs has always been a priority of this administration.

"I commend Assemblyman Ravitz for organizing this wonderful Health Fair. Thanks to quality health services like the ones provided here today, our seniors can live happier, longer, and more productive and meaningful lives," the Mayor concluded.

Assemblyman Ravitz said, "I am glad that Mayor Giuliani could join us at my Senior Citizens Health Fair today. Over the past four years, he has shown a firm commitment to provide the best health services that senior citizens have ever had in New York City."

In addition to the health related services offered at the Health Fair by local health care providers, the New York City Department of Health provided more than 400 flu shots and personnel from the MTA Senior Citizens Metrocard Bus were on hand to assist seniors with their applications.
