MAYOR GIULIANI HOSTS GREAT HALLOWEEN PARTY IN "BOO" YORK'S CENTRAL PARK
Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today hosted this year's Great Halloween Party in Central Park, the spectacular Fall celebration that features the ultimate in Halloween costumes, contests and creatures as party-goers and their pets try out their creative garb. This ultimate extravaganza, which is open to the public and free of charge, debuts its rollerblading event, Blade Parade, as well as stunt performances in Stagefright III and pet costumes in Dress Your Pet for Howl-O-Ween. Joining the Mayor in the Central Park celebration were Parks Commissioner Henry J. Stern and his caped canine mascot, Boomer, outfitted as "Wonderdog."
Earlier in the day, the Mayor attended the Eleventh Annual Throggs Neck Halloween Party in the Throggs Neck area of the Bronx.
"I welcome you all to the annual Halloween celebration in Central Park," Mayor Giuliani said. "This is a wonderful celebration. This year, there are even more events than ever before. From the Blade Parade -- a first ever costume contest that takes place entirely on skates -- to the hot-air balloon and hay rides, thousands of participants are sure to find something that gets them into the Halloween spirit."
Said Commissioner Henry J. Stern, "The Great Halloween Party in Central Park is one of the City's most recent and fastest growing traditions. This year's party, the third annual Central Park celebration of a holiday that is both festive and frightening, features new events as well as old favorites."
The festival is sponsored by Newmark & Company Real Estate, Inc.
