GIULIANI ADMINISTRATION ADDS CITY RESOURCES TO STATEN ISLAND

Deputy Mayor for Operations Randy Mastro today announced that the Department of Building's (DOB) Quality of Life Enforcement Team will expand into Staten Island, and that the Department of City Planning will hire two additional planners for its Staten Island Planning office. Two new DOB "Quality of Life" inspectors will be assigned to investigate complaints dealing primarily with zoning infractions that pose public safety concerns, such as the creation of illegal and unsafe Single Room Occupancy dwellings. The two new DCP planners will permit that agency to advance the borough's planning and development work program more quickly than current staff levels allow.

"This administration promised to help the people of Staten Island address illegal conversion and permit problems in the borough. Now we are delivering on that promise by providing more City personnel to meet Staten Islanders' needs," said Deputy Mayor Mastro.
