MAYOR GIULIANI CELEBRATES THE 100th ANNIVERSARY OF BROOKLYN FIREHOUSE

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani proclaimed today, October 5, 1996 "Engine Company 245 and Battalion 43 Centennial Day," in honor of the Coney Island, Brooklyn firehouse celebrating its 100th anniversary.

"Today's celebration is not only a measure of time but a measure of the commitment and excellence that Engine Company 245 and Battalion 43 have given this community," Mayor Giuliani said. "For 100 years, members of this firehouse have served the Coney Island area, risking their lives again and again to save others. Today's members of Engine Company 245 and Battalion 43 proudly carry on this historic legacy. I congratulate the members of this firehouse, both past and present and commend their bravery."
