STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON PASSING OF SUSAN KUPFERMAN

Early this morning, Susan Kupferman, who had been a valued member of our Administration and a personal friend, passed away. As anyone at City Hall could attest, she was as likeable as she was dedicated and hard-working – which is to say she was well-loved and enormously respected. Susan revolutionized the Mayor’s Management Report – a crucial accountability tool – and played pivotal roles in many of our important priorities, including the launch of 311. When she left City Hall, she continued working on behalf of our City at the MTA – even as she fought debilitating treatments. Whenever I would speak with her, I was always taken by her strength and resolve. She was the embodiment of a great public servant – a highly-talented and driven New Yorker who conducted herself with the utmost integrity. Our Administration will miss her, the City and State will miss her, and I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with her husband Bernie, her father Arnie and her entire family.”
