STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON U.S. SENATE APPROVAL OF HURRICANE SANDY RELIEF BILL

"With the Senate's bipartisan passage of the Hurricane Sandy relief bill, the Federal government will finally provide New York City and our neighbors with the assistance that's rightfully extended to Americans whose lives have been upended by crises and natural disasters. It was 13 weeks ago today that the storm hit, and New Yorkers are still working to rebuild.  This aid will allow us to better help our residents and businesses, and I want to thank all of those who voted in support of this critical appropriation. I especially applaud the work of Senate Majority Leader Reid and New York Senators Schumer and Gillibrand for their tireless efforts in shepherding this legislation through the Senate, not once, but twice. I look forward to seeing President Obama quickly sign this legislation into law, fulfilling his personal commitment to Americans impacted by Hurricane Sandy."
