STATEMENT OF MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON THE 23 EMMY WINS FOR TELEVISION SHOWS THAT ARE 'MADE IN NY'

"Given how many TV shows are now filmed in New York City and how well they did tonight, maybe the Academy should think about hosting next year's Emmys in the Big Apple. Glee and Curb Your Enthusiasm couldn't resist coming to New York City this season - though I had to send Larry David back.

"Our film and television production industry is booming. A record 23 primetime TV shows are being filmed in New York City, and last year 200 movies were made here. All of that activity supports 100,000 jobs and 4,000 local businesses, generating business not only for our entertainment industry but also for our lumberyards, food suppliers, hardware stores, transportation companies, hotels and so many other small businesses.

"The sun may not be setting on Hollywood just yet, but it keeps rising higher in New York City.  This is where the best television in the world is being made."
