MAYOR BLOOMBERG SPEAKS AT U.S. CAPITOL SEPTEMBER 11TH REMEMBRANCE CEREMONY

Mayor to Congress: “We will not forget our obligation to work with the rest of the country to take care of those who came to our aid – first as a rescue mission, and much too rapidly turning into a recovery mission.”

The following are Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg’s Remarks as delivered on the steps of the U.S. Capitol today:

“Madame Speaker, thank you.

“Remember, reflect, rebuild. That’s what we’ve been doing for nine years, and I’m here to say thank you to America, to people from all 50 states who have helped us do that, and to commit to this country that we will not forget our obligation to work with the rest of the country to take care of those who came to our aid – first as a rescue mission, and much too rapidly turning into a recovery mission.

“And we will not forget our obligation to educate our children and our grandchildren that our freedoms are fragile, and the young men and women overseas who are fighting and dying to let us continue to speak and to pray and to live the way we want to live – we will not forget ever.

“Thank you.”
