MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION EXTENDING DEADLINES FOR THE CITY’S BUDGET
Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws
"The second bill before me is Introductory Number 128, sponsored at the request of the Administration by Council Members Recchia and Comrie.
"Introductory Number 128 extends the date for the completion of the Executive Budget by ten days, from April 26th to May 6th and extends the date for the completion of the budget hearings by eight days, from May 25th to June 3rd. Furthermore, the date for adoption of the Fiscal Year 2011 budget is moved from June 5th to June 14th. Introductory Number 128 also makes corresponding adjustments for the other Charter mandated actions required during the budget process. This action is necessary so the City can further refine its budget proposal prior to submission.
"I would like to thank the Office of Management and Budget and my Office of City Legislative Affairs for their work on this bill. I would also like to thank the City Council for approving this legislation."
