"On behalf of all New Yorkers, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to those who have lost family or friends in the catastrophe that has ravaged Myanmar, which many New Yorkers know as Burma.  There has been terrible loss of life, and the great distance between our two parts of the world hasn't lessened the impact many New Yorkers are feeling.  Our prayers and thoughts are with the thousands of New Yorkers who hail from Burma and all of those who are mourning for lost loved ones."
