STATEMENT BY MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ON THE MTA CAPITAL PLAN

"Today, the MTA unveiled a list of projects that are important to all New Yorkers and to people from around our region. In its capital plan, the MTA identifies sources of funding - including billions of dollars from congestion pricing - that will help them to realize projects like the Second Avenue Subway, bringing Metro-North into Penn Station and much-needed bus rapid transit in areas outside of Manhattan. Congestion pricing is one of the only reliable sources of funding that the MTA has identified, and without it the projects in this plan will not happen. The MTA did the responsible thing by releasing its capital plan early and making its priorities public. Together with the Governor and our partners in Albany and in the City Council, we must provide the MTA with the money it needs to help our region grow and prosper"
