MAYOR BLOOMBERG SIGNS LEGISLATION REQUIRING AGENCIES TO ELECTRONICALLY TRANSMIT PROPOSED RULES TO CITY COUNCIL NO LATER THAN TRANSMISSION TO CITY RECORD

Remarks by Mayor Bloomberg at a Public Hearing on Local Laws

"The final bill before me today is Introductory Number 643, sponsored by Council Members Felder, Brewer, Comrie, Fidler, Gennaro, Gentile, Gerson, Koppell, Martinez, Nelson, Palma, Sanders, Stewart, Jackson, Sears, Garodnick, White and the Public Advocate, Betsy Gotbaum.

"Introductory Number 643 requires all City agencies to electronically transmit copies of proposed rules to the City Council and other interested organizations no later then when the proposed rule is transmitted to the City Record for publication. This bill builds on one of our Administration's priorities - our commitment to transparency and openness.

"I would like to thank Counselor to the Mayor Anthony Crowell and all the agency staff who worked on this bill.  I would also like to thank the Council for approving this legislation."
