STATEMENT BY MAYOR BLOOMBERG ON RESIGNATION OF SPECIAL ADVISOR FOR GOVERNANCE AND STRATEGIC PLANNING ESTER FUCHS

"Ester's academic expertise, problem solving skills and knowledge of the City brought a unique perspective to government. Through interagency cooperation and community collaboration, she initiated and coordinated the restructuring of the City's Workforce Development program and Out of School Time system. She also managed the Integrated Human Services project with the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, which is streamlining the screening and eligibility determination process across 13 human service agencies through the use of technology.  Ester also chaired the 2005 Charter Revision Commission, producing two ballot initiatives regarding ethics and fiscal policies which both passed overwhelmingly in November. And most recently Ester developed my policy vision for the second term. Her creative and resourceful commitment to our City will leave a legacy that will last long after she has left its government. I wish her the best on her return to Columbia."
