"The Atlantic Yards project will transform a neighborhood with 4,500 apartments including much-needed affordable housing, and create a stronger local economy for the working men and women of Brooklyn and their families.  It will also create 8,500 permanent new jobs, substantial new commercial, retail, open space and a venue for the first major league sports team to play in Brooklyn since the Dodgers.  Improving and investing in neighborhoods in all five boroughs is at the core of our Administration's economic development strategy, and today's decision by the MTA to proceed with the sale of the Atlantic railyards is great news for Brooklyn."
