"Legislation which is making its way through Congress that would give gun manufacturers immunity from acting negligently is a disgrace. I can't find any reason why we should allow irresponsible gun manufacturers and dealers to escape any civil responsibility for supplying firearms to criminals. Why on earth should Congress make it easier for criminals to get firearms?

"Our criminal justice agencies have worked hard to get guns off the streets through tough law enforcement.   Strong gun laws are one of the reasons why New York is the nation's safest big city. This legislation would enable gun manufacturers to avoid taking simple steps that would limit the flow of guns to criminals and would increase the gun violence we've been fighting so hard to reduce.

"I urge Members of Congress to reject this bill and not put people's lives at risk by protecting negligent gun manufacturers."
