The COIB, an independent City agency charged with interpreting and enforcing the Conflicts of Interest Law, is comprised of five members. Mr. Rosenfeld is currently serving a six-year term as a member of the COIB. He was nominated as a member of the COIB by Mayor Bloomberg and confirmed by City Council following a confirmation hearing before the Council's Rules Committee.

"This Administration is committed to maintaining the public's trust by adhering to the highest ethical standards," Mayor Bloomberg said. "Steven Rosenfeld possesses the legal expertise, ethical integrity, and common sense to head the board charged with this mandate."

He has been active in public service his entire legal career, and was a member of the board of directors of the Legal Aid Society from 1978 to 1995 and its president from 1989 to 1991. Mr. Rosenfeld is a past member of the executive committee and past vice president of the Association of The Bar of the City of New York. His active pro bono practice has ranged from Legal Aid cases to criminal appeals to a Texas death penalty case.

Before joining Paul Weiss, Mr. Rosenfeld served as law clerk to the Honorable Charles M.
