MAYOR MICHAEL R. BLOOMBERG ANNOUNCES
APPOINTMENTS TO DISTRICTING COMMISSION

Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg today announced his appointments to the Districting commission. The Mayor's seven appointments join City Council Speaker Gifford Miller's five appointments and Minority Leader James Oddo's three appointments to the commission. The Districting Commission meets once every ten years following the decennial census. Based upon changes in the population of the City, Council district lines are redrawn to accommodate shifts in population within the state.

"I am proud to announce my appointments to the Districting Commission to join the fine appointments from the City Council," said Mayor Bloomberg. "These seven individuals will do an excellent job with a challenging task - to redraw our electoral districts fairly and coherently so that each New Yorker's voice will be heard by the City legislature."

The Mayor's appointments are:

Ross Brady
Mr. Brady is an attorney at Alan Lee specializing in Immigration Law. He previously worked at the Congressional Research Service, Simon & Schuster and for Julien & Schlesinger, PC. He is the president and treasurer of the Men's Club at Congregation Emanu-El and is a graduate of Hunter College and the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. Mr. Brady lives in Brooklyn.

Henry M. Calderon
Mr. Calderon is the Chairman of the East Harlem Chamber of Commerce and the founder and owner of Calderon Brokerage and Donrell Realty Corp. He is a member of the Mt. Sinai Hospital Board of Trustees and serves on Community Planning Board #11. Mr. Calderon lives in Manhattan with his wife and three children and is a graduate of Baruch College.

Charles Capetanakis
Mr. Capetanakis is a partner in Capetanakis & Preite a law firm in New York City. He is the former law clerk for U.S. District Judge Jose A. Gonzalez, Jr. and is a certified public account. He is the Vice-Chairman of the New York State Project Finance Agency and a former member of Community School Board 20. He is a graduate of Fordham University School of Law and New York University. Mr. Capetanakis lives in Brooklyn and is married to the former Dena Counavelis and has three children Basil Thomas, John Anthony and Evan Jordan.

Martha M. Galvez
Ms. Galvez is a policy analyst at the Citizen Housing and Planning Council specializing in demographics and community development. She is a former a researcher with the Taub Urban Research Center at New York University. She is a former employee of the Civilian Complaint Review Board and is a graduate of Wesleyan University and holds a Masters in Urban Planning from the Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service. She resides in Brooklyn.

David Jackson
Mr. Jackson is a Partner at Marco Polo Partners, an investment advisory firm specializing in emerging markets. He is the former Senior Vice President and Head of Asian Mergers & Acquitsions for Lehman Brothers and is the President of the Log Cabin Republicans of New York City. He holds an A.B. in economics form Princeton University and a Masters degree in Public and Private Management from the Yale School of Management. He is a resident of Manhattan

Julie Menin
Ms. Menin is the President and Founder of Wall Street Rising, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to revitalizing Lower Manhattan and is the owner of the Vine Restaurant in Manhattan's Financial District. She is a former member of Community Board 1 and serves on six governmental committees regarding the development of Lower Manhattan. She previously was Senior Regulatory Counsel for Colgate-Palmolive and is a graduate of Columbia University and the Northwestern University School of Law. Ms. Menin lives in Manhattan.

Victoria Schneps
Ms. Schneps is the President and CEO of Schneps Communications, the publisher of The Queens Courier, The Southeast Courier, The Northwest Courier, The Forest Hills Courier, Healthwise Magazine, The Forum Courier and Queens Business Today. She also founded the Working Organization for Retarded Children and Adults, a not-for-profit agency operating group homes from developmentally disabled children and adults. She serves on the Board of Directors of the Queens Museum of Art and resides in Bayside, Queens.
