Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today challenged Arizona Senator John McCain and Senator Jon Kyl, and Phoenix Mayor Skip Rimsza to wagers on the outcome of the 2001 World Series Championship between the reigning World Champion New York Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks.
"The Yankees' performance against the Mariners has given all New Yorkers
something to cheer about," said Mayor Giuliani. "Their American
League pennant win has helped show the world the spirit, enthusiasm, and
come-back attitude of New Yorkers. On Saturday the Yankees will head to
their 38th World Series - for the fourth year in a row. I'm confident they'll
win another World Championship and make sure that the World Series Championship
trophy remains in New York City."
