MAYOR GIULIANI SIGNS BILL RENAMING SECTION OF 68TH STREET
IN BROOKLYN "GUILD FOR EXCEPTIONAL CHILDREN WAY"

Remarks by Mayor Giuliani at Public Hearing on Local Laws

The next bill before me, Introductory Number 894, sponsored by Council Members Golden, Berman and Clarke, would add the name "Guild for Exceptional Children Way" to 68th Street, between Ridge Boulevard and Third Avenue, in Brooklyn.

The Guild for Exceptional Children is a private, not-for-profit human services agency that cares for developmentally disabled children and their families. The Guild helps families to cope with the responsibilities and challenges of raising and caring for developmentally disabled children. This special organization operates seven group homes throughout Brooklyn and employs more than 300 workers.

Therefore, because of the Guild's success in meeting its important mission and the services it has provided to many families, I am pleased to rename 68th Street, between Ridge Boulevard and 3rd Avenue, as "Guild For Exceptional Children Way."

For the reasons previously stated, I will now sign the bill.
