Mayor Giuliani said, "Information technology is an incredibly delicate and difficult body of work, one that our City depends on as we go further into the 21st Century. These men and women have taken on-and met-the challenge of keeping New York City ahead of its time, from overseeing the seemingly simple workings of voicemail and e-mail, to undertaking the complex redesign of our NYC.gov portal."
Allan Dobrin, Commissioner of the Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, said "Every area of our government's operations has benefited from technology, whether it be human resources, finance operations, or services for senior citizens, as exemplified by the wide array of technology projects being recognized through our Excellence in Technology Awards. I am pleased that the hard work of the City's Information Technology personnel is being recognized."
Under the direction of the Mayor, and through the leadership of the New York City Technology Steering Committee (TSC), the City established ETAP to recognize the contributions by City technology professionals, who have developed solutions that enhance agency productivity, service delivery, and customer service.
