The report also
indicated that year-over-year private employment is up 72,800 jobs, or 2.3%.
"Private sector jobs in New York City are being added at a steady and
consistent rate," said Mayor Giuliani. "And this news couldn't be
better for the City. Today's report affirms that the policies this administration
put in place to support and encourage new businesses continues to pay dividends."
The Mayor also noted that unemployment figures (seasonally adjusted) edged
down to 5.2% in May from 5.4% in April.
