MAYOR GIULIANI URGES SWIFT PASSAGE OF SCHOOL CRIME
REPORTING BILL INTRO. NO. 933-A
"This common
sense legislation would require school personnel to report crimes and threatened
crimes to the agency best equipped to investigate such incidents - the NYPD.
There are numerous recent incidents, such as the case of teacher Milton McFarlane,
where unreported crimes have been lost in the vast bureaucracy of the school
system only to resurface years later. I urge the City Council to protect our
children by immediately moving to adopt this important legislation, and I
strongly oppose any attempt to water down the provisions of this bill."
