MAYOR GIULIANI STATEMENT ON THE POLICE DEPARTMENT'S
DETERMINATION REGARDING THE CONDUCT OF
POLICE OFFICERS IN THE AMADOU DIALLO CASE

The Police Department should be commended for resisting intense pressure to rush to judgement in this case. The Department reviewed all of the facts surrounding this incident fairly and objectively -- as they would in any case -- and their determination should be respected. The Clinton Justice Department deemed it appropriate not to pursue any charges. And, it is important to remember, the officers were found innocent by a jury of their peers that included four African Americans and eight whites."
