MAYOR GIULIANI PAYS THANKSGIVING VISIT TO THE
NATIVITY OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY SCHOOL
WITH THE 2000 WORLD SERIES TROPHY IN TOW

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Fire Commissioner Thomas Von Essen today visited the Principal, Sister Marguerite Torre, and the children of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School in Queens for a Thanksgiving celebration and a special unveiling of the 2000 World Series Trophy.

"Thanksgiving at the Torre home should be wonderful this year," said Mayor Giuliani. "Joe just brought home the third straight Yankees championship, and Sister Margurite continues to shape the lives of so many young New Yorkers. Our entire City should be proud of both Torres, as they have shown us all that a strong commitment to a cause can change many lives and even our City. So it is with great pleasure that I bring the Yankees' World Series Trophy to the students of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School. Let this be an inspiration and a reminder to our students about what they can accomplish."

After speaking to two student assemblies at the school, the Mayor helped Sister Marguerite and student council president Angela Camera unveil the 2000 World Series Trophy for the students to view for the day.

The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary School is an elementary school serving children from pre-kindergarten to the eighth grade.
