MAYOR GIULIANI AND SEATTLE MAYOR SCHELL
WAGER ON YANKEES - MARINERS CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani and Mayor Paul Schell of Seattle, Washington, set wagering terms on the outcome of the American League Championship Series between the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners, which begins tonight at Yankee Stadium.

If the Yankees win, Mayor Schell owes Mayor Giuliani a carton of Eastern Washington apples, an assortment of local coffees, and a bottle of Seattle tap water. Mayor Schell also agrees to wear a Yankees baseball cap in public. Should the Mariners win, Mayor Giuliani will send Mayor Schell two tickets to a Broadway show of his choosing, a dozen Nathan's hotdogs, and a bottle of New York City tap water.
Mayor Giuliani also agrees to wear a Mariners baseball cap in public.

"The New York Yankees are one step closer to their 26th World Championship," said Mayor Giuliani. "I am convinced that they remain the team to beat, and I am confident that we will see our City's first subway series in more than 40 years. Thanks to Mayor Brown of Oakland, I'm looking forward to dining on my Everett & Jones BBQ, which I won when the Yankees beat the Athletics. I also want to wish the best of luck to the Mets as they get set to battle it out against the St. Louis Cardinals tomorrow night."
