MAYOR GIULIANI HOSTS NATIONAL URBAN LEAGUE RECEPTION AT GRACIE MANSION

Honors 90 Years of Social Service

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today welcomed members of the National Urban League to a reception at Gracie Mansion to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the social service organization. New York City Housing Preservation and Development Commissioner Richard Roberts joined the Mayor in honoring the contributions of the National Urban League and its current leaders, National President Hugh Price, National Chairman Jonathan Linen and New York Chapter President Dennis Walcott.

"The National Urban League was founded here in New York City 90 years ago. Since that time it has successfully worked to build better lives for African-Americans in our nation's cities," said Mayor Giuliani. "Through research, advocacy, outreach programs, and education, the National Urban League continues to emphasize greater reliance on the unique resources and strengths of the African-American community."

The National Urban League Annual Conference will be in New York City Saturday, July 29th through Wednesday, August 2nd. Mayor Giuliani will address the conference and present National Urban League leaders with a Proclamation during the Keynote Session on Sunday, July 30th.
