STATEMENT BY MAYOR GIULIANI ON THE DEATH OF NEW YORK MERCANTILE EXCHANGE PRESIDENT R. PATRICK THOMPSON
"I am saddened to learn of the untimely death of New York Mercantile Exchange
President Patrick Thompson.
In 1994, when the Mercantile Exchange was considering leaving New York City, my
Administration worked with Patrick and his colleagues to ensure that the exchange
would remain in New York City.
As a result of his efforts we were able to keep thousands of jobs from leaving
the City and secure our City's reputation as the Financial Capital of the World.
On behalf of all New Yorkers I would like to offer my sincere condolences to Patrick
Thompson's family."
