MAYOR GIULIANI PROCLAIMS JUNE 17th
EVANGELICAL CHRISTIAN CHILDREN'S PARADE DAY

Delegations From 800 Hispanic Evangelical Churches Expected To March

Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani today proclaimed June 17th, 2000 Evangelical Christian Children's Parade Day in New York City. Established 43 years ago by the Evangelical Children's Association, the parade honors the importance of children to the future of this City and their involvement in the community.

Also in attendance were: the Reverend Luis Serrano, President of the Evangelical Children's Association; the Reverend Rafael Reyes, Grand Marshal of the Evangelical Christian Children's Parade; and Elizabeth Cintron, Queen of the Evangelical Christian Children's Parade.

"The Evangelical Christian Children's Parade is a source of inspiration for our children," the Mayor said. "I commend The Evangelical Children's Association for stressing the importance of strong moral and spiritual guidance for our children. This parade is a reflection of the community's desire to encourage and support children, helping to making it possible for them to lead healthy and productive lives."

Evangelical churches and religious organizations throughout New York City and other eastern cities support and march in the parade. This year's parade will take place on June 17th, starting at noon at Third Avenue and East 97th Street, proceeding up Third Avenue, and culminating at 122nd Street and Park Avenue. Bands from 40 Evangelical churches and organizations will participate, and accompanying floats will depict scenes from the Bible.
