Contrary to common belief, most health insurance plans do not cover long-term care services. The following is a list of services that are covered by the LTC Program.
Covered Services
- Nursing home (skilled, intermediate and custodial care in a licensed nursing home or Alzheimer’s facility)
- In-patient hospice care
- Voluntary initial care advisory visit
- Assisted living facility (or Alzheimer’s facility)
- Home care services
- Services from a licensed home care agency for: R.N., L.P.N., L.V.N., home health aide, physical, respiratory, occupational and speech therapy, homemaker services, social worker, social worker from an agency
- Care from a nurse (R.N., L.P.N., L.V.N.) or a licensed therapist who is unaffiliated with a licensed agency
- Adult day care
- At-home hospice care
- Ongoing advisory services
- Respite services (21 days per calendar year): Services can be provided at home, in a nursing home, or in an assisted living facility
- Informal Care (unlimited number of days)
