Following the Money: FY2013-FY2014 Funding Analysis

(March 2014) OHCD has prepared a report examining the funding invested in workforce development and adult education services offered by New York City government.  Based on information from 13 agencies, 2 libraries, and CUNY, OHCD has analyzed the amounts and types of funding invested in Fiscal Years 2013 and 2014.  Specific attention is paid to the source of the funding, the agency that receives the funding, and the type of programs and services that agencies offer with the funding.

Jobs for the New York's Future Report

(June 2012) This report from CUNY's Jobs Task Force highlights key areas of near-term job growth in the City and takes an in-depth look at five sectors that together employ one in three New York City residents. It provides recommendations to CUNY and other institutions of higher education for strengthening links to industry and enhancing students' preparation for success in a competitive workforce.

This report presents a detailed picture of workforce activities within the City's five boroughs. It analyzes workforce services in the context of the local labor market and with a focus on system-wide challenges and priorities.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP IN NYC REPORT

Student Leadership in NYC Report

(February 2010) The former Mayor's Office of Adult Education (MOAE) convened 60 stakeholders, including adult learners and educators, at a Student Leadership Experts Meeting to discuss ways to strengthen and expand the role of adult learners as partners in adult education.  MOAE produced a report from the discussion.

STUDENT VOICES STUDY

Student Voices Study

(January 2010) To better understand what a more student-centered system of adult education would look like, the former Mayor's Office of Adult Education (MOAE) met with 141 adult learners in 13 focus groups.  The students were from programs across four boroughs for Adult Basic Education and English for Speakers of Other Languages.  During the focus groups, students had the opportunity to voice their perspectives and craft recommendations for improving the adult education system. Students, recent program graduates, literacy managers, and teachers then met with MOAE to analyze the data together.

ENVISIONING THE FUTURE OF ADULT EDUCATION REPORTS

Envisioning the Future of Adult Education Reports

(October 2007) In 2007 and 2008, the former Mayor's Office of Adult Education (MOAE) convened at least 150 educators, former students, City and state officials, and others to envision the future of adult education in New York City for the following five years.  The convening process included a day-long retreat in September 2007 attended by 65 stakeholders, whom were surveyed in advance.  MOAE produced a summary report from the retreat and released the results of the survey of retreat participants.

CITY'S ADULT EDUCATION SYSTEM REPORT

City's Adult Education Report

(September 2007) In advance of its retreat for stakeholders of the City's adult education system, the former Mayor's Office of Adult Education prepared a background report that provides an overview of the system and links to resources.
