Offering Free Financial Counseling and Coaching
Managing your money can be overwhelming. The City’s free Financial Empowerment Centers can help you take control. One-on-one financial counseling is provided for free by professional counselors in person or by phone in English and Spanish. You can schedule an appointment at a borough’s main Financial Empowerment Center location or a mobile Center location. Call today!
Financial Empowerment Centers can help when:
• You are having trouble managing your budget or paying down debt.
• You are getting calls or letters from a debt collector and don’t know how to respond.
• You are contemplating a debt consolidation loan or debt settlement but are unsure if this is the right step.
• You are stuck in an agreement with a credit repair agency and don’t know how to get out.
• You want to find the government benefits for which you are eligible.
• Your identity has been stolen or you have been the victim of a financial scam.
• You need help opening a bank account or saving money.
Financial Empowerment Centers are offered by Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg and the City of New York in partnership with Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, Credit Where Credit Is Due, The Financial Clinic, and Phipps Community Development Corporation, with generous support from Capital One, Citi, H&R Block, Jackson Hewitt, and the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City.
