Quickstart Application Download Table

The following table contains downloadable PDF documents for all of the materials needed to apply to the NYC BIG Program. The table also contains supporting documentation that will assist in navigating the BIG Program.

For each grant type identified at the top of each column, there are a number of grants that can be applied for using the application in that column. See Quickstart Grant Eligibility Questions to find out which grant applies to you.

To download documents, identify the grant type that applies to your project, and click on the arrows in that column. Most application materials may be submitted electronically.

Quickstart Grant Eligibility Questions

The following set of questions help an applicant understand the eligibility requirements associated with the different grant types in the BIG Program. Some questions require that the applicant have an understanding of basic terminology associated with NYC’s brownfield programs. Links to the corresponding definitions are provided. If a question does not apply to your project, simply move to the next question.

Is your property located in one of New York City's 5 boroughs?

If YES, continue to Question 2.
If NO, you are not eligible for a NYC BIG Program grant.

Is your property enrolled in the NYC Brownfield Cleanup Program?

If YES, you are eligible for an Enrollment Grant. Go to Question 4.
If NO, skip to Question 3.

Is your property potentially contaminated; in other words, is your site a Qualifying Brownfield Property?

If YES, you may be eligible for Pre-Enrollment Grants including Pre-Development Design, Environmental Investigation, and Technical Assistance Grants. Be sure to also answer Question 4.
If NO, skip to Question 4.

Is your project a Preferred Community Development Project?

If YES, you are eligible for higher grant award limits on Pre-Enrollment and Enrollment Grants. If you are a not-for-profit organization, you may be eligible for Technical Assistance Grants.
If NO, skip to Question 5.

Is your organization the recipient of a Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant from the NYS Department of State?

If YES, you may be eligible for a BOA Match Grant.
If NO, skip Question 6.

Is your organization a community group interested in applying for a Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) grant from the NYS Department of State?

If YES, you may be eligible for a BOA Application Technical Assistance Grant.
If NO, skip to Question 7.

Does your property have a New York City Hazardous Materials E-Designation or Restrictive Declaration?

If YES, you may be eligible for a Hazardous Materials E-Designation or Restrictive Declaration Remediation Grant.
If NO, you are not eligible for a Hazardous Materials E-Designation or Restrictive Declaration Remediation Grant.

Filling out an application with fillable PDF forms

NYC Brownfield Incentive Grant (BIG) Program applications are fillable PDF forms. In order to enter application information:

You must have Adobe Reader 8 or above.
Type into the fillable form.
When you save the file, your form entries will be saved.

Submitting an application

Applications may be sent via e-mail, along with the required attachments, to the BIG Program Administrator at Grants@NYCBIG.info. Pages requiring applicant signature must be submitted as hard copy originals. Alternatively, see the application cover page for mailing information.
