The NYC Brownfield Incentive Grant (BIG) Program was created by OER in collaboration with the New York City Economic Development Corporation to spur the cleanup and redevelopment of NYC Brownfields. The BIG Program will offer grants to property owners and developers throughout the development process, from the earliest stages of information gathering through environmental investigation and cleanup work, to help reduce the cost of cleanup and redevelopment of NYC brownfields. Grants are available now.
The BIG Program is flexible, easy to use, and will distribute approximately $10 million in grants for brownfield projects over the next several years. Applications are now being accepted.
OER is also developing a web-based application process so that Grantees and Qualified Vendors can easily apply online for enrollment in the BIG Program. This web-based application process will be available later this year.
The BIG program gives financial preference and special bonus grants to developers of affordable housing projects, community facilities, projects that are compliant with Brownfield Opportunity Area (BOA) plans, and those projects that enroll in the New York City Brownfield Cleanup Program (NYC BCP).
