NYC OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT TO HOST A MULTI-AGENCY FIELD EXERCISE
The New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM), the New York City Police Department (NYPD), the New York City Fire Department (FDNY), and the Roosevelt Island Operating Corporation (RIOC) will conduct a multi-agency field exercise on the Roosevelt Island Tram on Thursday, November 9, 2006. The exercise will test the City's ability to respond to an emergency situation on the tram. Scenario details are kept confidential prior to the exercise to ensure a realistic response from participants.
The exercise will take place in the vicinity of the tram terminal on Roosevelt Island. Police, fire and other emergency vehicles will be present. Parking restrictions will be posted on local streets in advance of the exercise. Tram service will be suspended from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. During that time, all surrounding bus and subway service will be operating on normal schedules.
Regular police, fire, ambulance and other emergency services will not be impacted. Participating agencies will maintain normal staffing levels throughout the exercise and remain capable of handling all routine operations.
Residents may call 311 or visit www.nyc.gov/oem for more information.
