On September
6, NYC Citizen Corps Council
volunteers and OEM staffers donned bright orange shirts to provide
emergency preparedness information to New Yorkers.
Emergency
management professionals and volunteers set up tables in seven locations

OEM
partner Power 105.1 helped make some preparedness noise in Manhattan on
168th Street. Deja vu and Power 105 friends spread the Ready New York
message and gave away free Go Bags.

New York City Citizen Corps Council,
OEM, and the Red Cross provided literature to help New Yorkers prepare for
all types of emergencies, including information on volunteer
opportunities.
Passersby came
with questions. OEM debuted a new Ready New York pocket
guide, which highlights three basic steps: knowing the hazards,
making a plan, and gathering supplies.
On September 16,
OEM attended the American Kennel Club's Responsible Dog Ownership Day, and
provided Ready New York For
Pets.
On
September 19, OEM gave a presentation and provided literature at the
Ready New York Corporate Prepredness Fair, with The McGraw Hill Companies
and The Rockefeller Group.
Throughout
National Preparedness Month, the New York City Department of Sanitation
displayed 1,200 Ready New York
posters on their highly visible trucks.
