NYC OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ANNOUNCES READY NEW YORKER OF THE MONTH CONTEST
The New York City Office of Emergency Management (OEM) invites New Yorkers to share stories of how they have prepared for emergencies through the Ready New Yorker of the Month contest. Each month, residents may submit their preparedness testimonials to OEM and the winner will be named the Ready New Yorker of the Month and receive two Go Bags, backpacks with basic supplies residents should have on hand for use in an emergency.
Residents who wish to participate in the Ready New Yorker of the Month contest may complete an application, available by calling 311 or on OEM’s website at www.NYC.gov/oem. Testimonials should be no more than 250 words and explain applicants’ steps to prepare, and if applicable, how those preparations have benefited them in an emergency. Winning stories will be posted on OEM’s website each month. Winners will receive two Go Bags.
OEM’s Ready New York campaign is designed to help New Yorkers prepare for all types of emergencies. Ready New York includes several publications, public service announcements, a speakers' bureau, print and outdoor advertising, corporate partnerships, and community programs.
