CITY ENACTS CONTINGENCY PLANS FOR RIDERS OF PRIVATE BUS LINES
In response to potential labor actions impacting private bus companies in Queens, the City has enacted a plan to provide alternate service to affected riders. At this time, all buses and subways are operating normally. Riders of bus lines that may be affected should consider making alternate travel plans, such as the use of alternate mass transportation, commuter vans, taxis, or livery cars.
In the event of a strike, the Taxi and Limousine Commission (TLC) will authorize commuter vans and livery cars to pick up passengers from any bus stop where service is not operating. Commuter vans are authorized a maximum fare of $5 per passenger, and livery cars are authorized up to $10 per passenger for travel within Queens. Rules will be in effect 24 hours a day, seven days a week throughout a work stoppage. When using commuter vans and livery cars, passengers should ensure they accept rides from only those operators displaying a valid TLC license or plates.
No traffic and roadway restrictions originally announced in the Contingency Plan have been enacted.
