Access-a-Ride Options for people with disabilities affected by Green and Command Bus Line Service Disruption
Access-a-Ride is an NYC Transit service that provides transportation for people who are unable to use the public bus or subway service for some or all of their trips. It offers shared rides, and door-to-door paratransit service. MTA New York City Transit administers AAR; private carriers under contract to NYC Transit provide service.
People with disabilities who need to travel to or from an area affected by the bus strike do not have to be currently registered with Access-a-Ride; however they must meet the Access-a-Ride eligibility criteria and need a pick up in the affected area. Individuals who meet the criteria of the initial screening will be given temporary eligibility for the duration of the strike. Access-a-Ride will assist by charging a $2.00 fare (exact change required) subject to availability.
For an eligibility assessment, call the Paratransit Command Center at 877-337-2017, TTY 646-252-5287 or TTY Relay 800-662-1220 between 9 am and 5 pm daily, one to two days in advance of your trip. When the recorded message begins, press "1." You will be connected to an eligibility specialist.
