THE NEW YORK CITY OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AND THE NEW YORK METS ANNOUNCE READY NEW YORK AT SHEA STADIUM
The New York Mets and the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) team up to help prepare New York for Emergencies Starting at this evening’s New York Mets home game against the San Francisco Giants, the New York City Office of Emergency Management’s “Ready New York” public service announcements featuring Jerry Orbach, Richard Belzer, Gilbert Gottfried, Kenny Simmons and Q104.3’s Maria Milito will air on the Diamond Vision scoreboard at Shea Stadium. The “Ready New York” public service announcements highlight the City’s new emergency preparedness publication, “Ready New York: A Household Preparedness Guide.”
“‘Ready New York’ is an important resource all New Yorkers can use to prepare for emergencies such as fires, utilities disruptions, weather disasters and terrorism. It explains clearly and decisively how residents can prepare before an emergency situation arises,” said OEM Commissioner John T. Odermatt. “The New York Mets have agreed to screen our public service announcements at all of their remaining games at Shea Stadium and have once again demonstrated that they are truly committed to the safety of their fans and the people of the City of New York.”
“We are happy to team up with OEM and the City on such a worthwhile endeavor,” said Chief Operating Officer of the New York Mets, Jeff Wilpon. “No venture could be more worthwhile than providing for the safety of our fans and the general public.”
“Ready New York: A Household Preparedness Guide” emphasizes a three-step approach to emergency preparedness: what to have in your head (a Household Disaster Plan), what to have in your hand (a Go Bag), and what to have in your home (a Home Emergency Supply Kit). The guide is available online at www.nyc.gov in seven different languages or by calling 311.
