	FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Release 03-012 August 3, 2003 THE NYC OFFICE OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ADVISES OF PARKING GARAGE CLOSURES AND PARKING ALTERNATIVES IN CO-OP CITY River Bay Management has informed the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) that due to ongoing structural conditions at several garages serving Co-Op City in the Bronx, these garages will be temporarily closed for repairs. Mayor Michael Bloomberg has directed OEM to coordinate a plan for immediate parking relief for the residents of Co-Op City. The closures are listed below followed by various parking alternatives made possible by the Department of Transportation (DOT) in conjunction with the Office of Emergency Management. River Bay Management is advising of the following closures: Garage #3 Co-Op City Blvd and Caver Loop. Garage #8 Erskine Plan Earhart Loop. No new vehicles will be allowed to enter after10:00 ARE 8/4/03 and the garage will close on 8/6/03. Garage #1 Bay Chester Ave and Darrow Pl. No new vehicles will be allowed to enter after10:00 AM 8/11/03 and the garage will close on 8/13/03. Garage #4 Walcott Pl. and Asch Loop. No new vehicles will be allowed to enter after10:00 AM 8/18/03 and the garage will close on 8/20/03. OEM in conjunction with the Department of Transportation, the Department of Sanitation (DSNY), the Department of Buildings (DOB), the Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD), the New York City Police Department (NYPD) the Department of Parks and Recreation, and the River Bay Management Company have made available the following parking alternatives for the duration of the closures: Co-Op City Blvd –North from Asch Loop Co-Op City Blvd- Dreiser Loop to Carver Loop Peartree Ave, between Co-Op City Blvd & Conner St Erskine Pl between De Reimer Ave and Boller Ave. Co-Op City Blvd and Bellamy Loop Earheart Ln. (off of Erskine Pl) Adler Place (off of Asch Loop) Carver Loop (off of Co-Op City Blvd) Darrow Pl (off of Bay Chester Ave) Einstein Loop North Einstein Loop East Hutch Parkway South between Palmer Ave and Einstein Loop Bartow Avenue Lot (Bartow Avenue and Ely Avenue) North Donizetti Pl (off of Bay Chester Ave) Additional spots will become available beginning 8/12/03 at Bay Plaza and the Co-Op City Greenway. Alternate side of the street parking regulations will be suspended in many locations in and around Co-Op City.
