OEM COMMISSIONER JOHN T. ODERMATT ADVISES OF CONTINUEING WEATHER CONDITIONS IN NEW YORK CITY
The National Weather Service has informed the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) that due to yesterday and today’s heavy precipitation, flood warnings have been issued until midnight tonight for all five boroughs of the City of New York. OEM urges all New Yorkers to take precautions against these severe weather conditions. OEM will continue to monitor the situation and address any conditions they develop.
Do not attempt to cross swiftly flowing waters or waters of unknown depth by foot or by automobile. If your vehicle stalls, abandon it immediately and seek higher ground. High winds may make trees and branches hazardous and residents should be careful when walking in their vicinity. Stay tuned to local TV and radio for further weather updates.
For more information on dealing with severe weather, log on to OEM’s website at www.nyc.gov/oem or call 311 for a copy of Ready New York, New York City’s Emergency Preparedness Guide.
