OEM DEACTIVATES HEAT HOTLINE & EMOLS

Due to a drop in temperatures, the Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has deactivated its Heat Hotline as of 6 P.M.  Since its activation at 10 A.M., the 800-4-COOL-NY has received over 60 calls, with live operators providing tips on how to stay cool and referring residents to New York City Cooling Centers, libraries, museums, and City pools throughout the five boroughs.

The Emergency Management Online Locator System (EMOLS) has also been taken off-line.  Our “Beat the Heat” brochure, featuring advice on how to stay safe during hot weather as well as energy conservation tips, is still available at our website, www.nyc.gov/oem.
