7th Annual Disaster Volunteer Conference: It Takes A City
On May 9, 2013, the NYC Citizen Corps Council welcomed more than 350 volunteers to Pace University's Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts. The conference recognized of the tremendous efforts of volunteers in New York City before, during, and after Superstorm Sandy.

6th Annual Disaster Volunteer Conference: Volunteers Creating Change
On May 1, 2012, the NYC Citizen Corps Council welcomed more than 350 volunteers to Pace University's Michael Schimmel Center for the Arts. The conference showcased how change originates through volunteer ideas, and how these ideas often have a tremendous impact before, during, and after an emergency on individuals, families, organizations, and communities.

5th Annual Disaster Volunteer Conference: Enhancing Cross-Cultural Communication
On May 24, 2011, the NYC Citizen Corps Council welcomed more than 200 volunteers to the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The conference celebrated New York City’s diverse communities and brought together leaders from the volunteer, faith-based, immigrant, special needs, and academic communities to discuss the role volunteers can play in enhancing cross-cultural communication before, during, and after a disaster.

4th Annual Disaster Volunteer Conference: Surviving Help: Volunteering in a Healthy Way
On May 11, 2010, 250 volunteers from eight volunteer organizations attended Surviving Help: Volunteering in a Healthy Way at Alexander Hamilton U.S. Custom House. The conference brought together leaders from volunteer, faith-based and medical communities to discuss how volunteers can remain healthy before, during and after a disaster response.

On April 28 and 29, 2007, NYC Citizen Corps Council hosted the first ever Disaster Volunteer Conference at St. Francis College. Over 200 volunteer leaders from numerous organizations attended their choice of workshops to learn how to become more effective leaders during every phase of the disaster cycle.
