Frequently Asked Questions
Have a question about Partners in Preparedness? Find answers below.

How do I join Partners in Preparedness?
There are four steps to partnership:
  • Fill out the registration form
  • Complete five preparedness activities
  • Submit the completion survey
  • Be an active partner
Visit the How to Join page for more information.

How much does the partnership cost?
Nothing! It is completely free to be a partner.

Do I need to renew my partnership?
Yes, we require yearly renewal from our members. Preparedness is not a one-time event; it's a continual process. Organizations remain partners for one year, starting after they have completed the preparedness activities and have submitted the completion survey. For example, if an organization completes the preparedness activities in March, they will remain an active partner through March of the following year. Partners are encouraged to renew their membership each year.

What is the purpose of the Partners in Preparedness seal?
Partners receive the Partners in Preparedness seal, which can be displayed on an organization's intranet, website or printed materials to show its commitment to preparedness. Note: the seal does not represent approval of business continuity plans; however, it does demonstrate the commitment to preparedness.

My organization does not allow me to send messages to all employees. How can I complete the activities?
While it may not be possible to send messages all employees, posting information on your organization's intranet, newsletter, or internal notice boards are all great alternatives. Visit the Preparedness Activity Guide page for additional tips.

Is there a way for my organization to get more involved with OEM?
Yes! OEM engages with the private and nonprofit sectors to coordinate assets and resources during an emergency. OEM also works with umbrella organizations from a variety of industries who sit with us in the Emergency Operations Center during disasters, and help with information sharing and situational awareness. Please contact the program if you are interested in learning more.
