"That's so New York" - Domestic Violence Awareness Month
The Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence has partnered with the New York City Media to create a clip that addresses domestic violence for their show "That's so New York".

"That's So New York" captures all the unique happenings around town that underscore its distinctive character. This clip highlights the work of the New York City Family Justice Centers, an innovative program that enables victims to meet with a prosecutor, speak with a trained counselor, and apply for housing and financial assistance in just one visit – all in their language while their children play safely in the next room. By providing services in one location with partnering City agencies and community providers, the Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx Centers are increasing the effectiveness of service delivery to break the cycle of violence.

The Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence has contributed to the Queens Courier series on domestic violence "The Silent Shame" which aims to educate the Queens community about domestic violence and where victims can get help.

We Are New York - Stop Domestic Violence Video
The Mayor's Office to Combat Domestic Violence has partnered with the Mayor's Office of Adult Education and the City University of New York to create an episode that addresses domestic violence for the "We Are New York" series.

It is difficult for any person in a violent relationship to reach out for help, and immigrants may face additional barriers and challenges.  They may be unaware of available resources, unsure that they will get services in their language, or fearful that their immigration status will stand in their way.  The "We Are New York" show is designed to help immigrants learn to speak English and simultaneously learn about vital city services that they can access.

NYC Family Justice Center

The New York City Family Justice Center Initiative is a private/public partnership of the Mayor’s Fund to Advance New York City, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization established to promote partnerships between the City and the private sector.
