Hearing by Phone

OATH’s goal is to provide easy access to fair and timely hearings.  Many people feel more comfortable defending themselves by speaking to a judge directly, rather than writing a letter to contest a Notice of Violation (NOV) by mail.  OATH also understands that coming to an in-person hearing may be inconvenient and costs recipients of tickets time and money.  For these reasons, the Health Tribunal now offers the option of having a hearing over the phone.  Most newly-issued tickets will meet the requirements for a Hearing-by-Phone.

The following types of NOVs are NOT eligible for a Hearing-by-Phone:

  • Radiology
  • Day Care
  • Camps
  • Lead Paints
  • Nuisance
  • Water Tanks
  • Vital Statistics
  • Window Guards
  • Smoking
  • Cases with hearings dates that have passed
