Grant Program offers a 25 percent tuition reduction for uniform and civilian
members of the service. The tuition reduction
applies to both Baccalaureate and Master’s degree programs. The 25 percent tuition reduction is also available
to the spouse or dependent child of members of the service for 12 credits on the
undergraduate level, and six credits on the graduate level.

Fordham University’s Fordham
College of Liberal Studies (FCLS) has announced the new “Finest Grant” for all
uniform and civilian members of the NYPD. This
program will enable members to receive a 25% tuition grant for study towards
their bachelor’s degrees.
FCLS (Fordham’s undergraduate
college for working adult) offers a variety of BA and BS degree programs
(including sociology with a criminal justice component, computer systems, the
arts and sciences, business, organizational leadership, education, etc.) Day,
evening, weekend and on-line classes are available.
The admission requirements are:
high school diploma or GED, skills assessment, and a meeting to discuss the
program and your goals. An added benefit of
the program is that Fordham will accept up to 75 transfer credits from

Program is designed for police officers to earn a degree by taking as few as

John Jay College is offering a
Bachelor of Arts Degree Program in Criminal Justice to uniformed and civilian
members who are enrolled in John Jay College’s Weekend Study Program. Under the College’s Weekend Program, all members

MANHATTAN COLLEGE ADULT DEGREE COMPLETION
PROGRAM
Manhattan College, located at 3840
Corlear Avenue in Riverdale, New York 10471-4098, is offering uniformed and
civilian members of the service tuition reduction for an accelerated Bachelor of
Science Degree Program with a concentration in Organizational Management. The two year accelerated program requires students
to meet one night a week for four-hour sessions.
The 23 month study program consists of four semesters. A $1,000 tuition reduction per semester is
available to members of the service.
Eligibility:
Uniformed and civilian members of the service must provide
Department identification at the bursar’s office when registering for the
program.
Note:
An added benefit of the program is that Manhattan College will accept up
to 60 transfer credits. A minimum of 28
credits from Police Academy training will be accepted.
The program consists of 60 credits,
comprised of 18 three-credit courses and a thesis. Courses include Behavioral Psychology (18 credits),
Business and Management (15) credits, Communications (12) credits, and Ethics (9
credits). The courses are particularly
designed to meet the Management Psychology principles needed by police personnel
today.

Monroe College, with campuses in the

professionals to complete their degrees. The
Law Enforcement Professionals Grant was created to make it more affordable to
receive a high quality, flexible and customized program. The Criminal Justice Degree Program offers a
teaching staff of exceptional current and retired law-enforcement and criminal
justice professionals, all with Ph.D. or Master’s Degrees.
Law Enforcement Professionals Grants are available to individuals
who enroll either part-time or full-time in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree
program in Criminal Justice. Students can also
take their degree completely on-line (which is accredited by the New York State
Board of Regents) or combined with classes through blended learning.
Eligibility: This grant is available to
all active, retired, and disabled uniform members of the service. Must be accepted and enroll as a full-time or
part-time matriculated student in the Criminal Justice degree program.
Note:
This grant is for $750 per semester for
full-time students. For part-time students the
grant is $375 per semester. Over three
semesters, a typical academic year for Monroe students, the Law Enforcement
Professionals Grant can save a student $2,250 in tuition expenses. By attending three semesters per year, qualified

St. John’s offers Public Service scholarships providing 33%
reductions in tuition, up to a limit of six credits per semester.
Eligibility: All uniformed members of the
service who are admitted to either the Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice
or an Associate degree in Science.
Note:
The 126 credit Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice
combines a professional education in the field of Criminal Justice with studies
in the Liberal Arts and Business Administration.
The program blends the social sciences with professional courses in law,
police science, corrections, criminalistic and court administration. It prepares students for postgraduate and
professional study and for careers in the Criminal Justice field.
The two-(2) year Associate of
Science degree (60 credits) helps to prepare students for careers in the
criminal justice field. Credits earned in the
Associates Program are transferable to the Bachelors program. Classes are offered at both the Jamaica, Queens and

UTICA COLLEGE – BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN ECONOMIC CRIME
INVESTIGATION ON-LINE PROGRAM

Fraud has become technologically complex and costly in our
post-industrial, knowledge-based global economy.
Presently, there are few people with the requisite skills to effectively
detect, investigate and prevent this type of crime.
Utica College’s Criminal Justice Economic Crime Investigation program
(ECI) is the nation’s first undergraduate program dedicated to preparing
practitioners to understand the evolving technological problems of business
fraud and computer crimes. Established in
1988, the program prepares future economic crime investigators by combining
accounting, management, computer science, and economic courses with traditional
criminal justice courses. The program offers
two concentrations: one in financial investigations and one in computer
security.
In January 2004, Utica College made
available an undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal
Justice-Economic Crime Investigation in an on-line format. This is a new program that is offered to all
members of the New York City Police Department.
It is the nation’s first undergraduate major in Economic
Crime.
The following on-line courses are
offered as an introduction to the ECI Bachelor of Science distance learning
degree program. All members of the Department

Security – The Information Security course is an analysis of the

FELLOWSHIP GRANTS
The Criminal Justice Post-Graduate Fellowship Fund was created to
promote public service criminal law practice by Brooklyn Law School
graduates. This idea is facilitated by
awarding loan repayments stipends to graduates who have been practicing public
criminal law, (e.g.: Legal Aid, Public Defenders, District Attorneys’ Offices,
Juvenile Justice Agencies, and other government agencies) for
at
least five (5) consecutive years. The purpose of this program is
to enable experienced and committed graduates, with substantial educational debt
to continue practicing in public sector criminal law. By assisting these
graduates the program hopes to lessen the debt burden, and to inspire an abiding
commitment to the practice of public sector criminal law. The fund will award at least two (2) $7,500 grants,
and plans to continue awarding grants on an annual basis.
Eligibility: Applicants must be currently
practicing in the area of public sector criminal law (including, but not limited
to, work for prosecutors or public defenders) for at least five consecutive
years. Applicants must have had educational
debt of at least $30,000 at the time of graduating from law school, and
significant remaining indebtedness. Applicants
must agree to permit the fellowship committee to use any information by the
applicant for publicity purposes.
Note:
The principle criterion for awarding the fellowship is an
outstanding commitment to public sector criminal law. Applicants can demonstrate
this commitment in numerous ways including professional services, community
work, or participation in various bar associations and committees.

Requirements for the MPA:
- Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or
university
- Prospective students with an undergraduate cumulative Grade
Point Average (GPA) less than 2.5 and less than ten years of professional work experience are required to take
the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) and achieve a combined score (verbal +
quantitative) of 800.

The New York Institute of Technology is offering the Professional
Trainers Master’s program in Instructional Technology. The program enables members of the Department to
develop skills in designing and delivering effective instruction for any type of
content and for a variety of audiences.
Graduates work in positions such as trainers, instructional designers,
e-learning specialists and independent consultants.
They work successfully in business settings, as well as educational,
private, not-for-profit, public service and government sectors. The program is a unique blend of study and practice
focused on human, organizational and technological elements using real-world
projects. Courses are divided into the areas

HALL UNIVERSITY – MASTERS OF ARTS IN HUMAN RESOURCES TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT
(Traditional Program)
Seton Hall University is offering a Master’s Degree program in Human Resources
Training and Development (HRTD) for members of the Law Enforcement community.
This program was specifically designed for the New York police community in that
its classes are scheduled on weekends.
The University offers a 50 percent
scholarship for all students enrolled in this program. This is a 36-credit
program that does not require a thesis. Students will also have the option of
completing a 12-credit certificate program in either Human Resources or
Leadership and Management.

Utica College of Syracuse University offers a Master’s Program in
Economic Crime Management. This program
prepares the student for the fight against cyber-crime by enabling them to be
effective in the prevention, detection, and investigation of economic
crime. The Masters Degree can be completed in
six semesters over a two-year period. Each
semester the student is required to attend a one-week residence at the Utica
College Campus, with the remaining course work completed via Internet. Utica
